Summer is Coming

Little delayed with some Seattle rain and a cold Northwest March but as we turn the corner out of winter to find light at the end of the tunnel our focus falls fully on the reason why we all like Seattle….the spring and summer!

It’s time to plan our outdoor events and activities that require outdoor portable bathrooms and handwash sinks. Some of the summer events Green Latrine will support with porta potties:

Summer is just around the corner! Let’s prepare by planning ahead with your reservation of luxury restroom trailers, portable toilets, handwash sinks and hand sanitizer.

Weddings and Porta Potties for Weddings  

For outdoor weddings in Western Washington “wedding season” is limited to just about twelve weekends. So, so, so many weddings every weekend! Beat the rush, reserve well in advance whatever your event site requires for portable sanitation. Based on your venue and your caterer you may also have additional requirements to meet like a hot water handwash or you may need a waste holding tank for wastewater from cleaning dishes. Every wedding venue and event site is different. Every caterer is different. Every public health department is different. Public health codes differ in our different local counties. King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties all have different health departments with their own rules around food service, handwash, wastater and access to restrooms.

Portable Toilets and Septic Tanks

Many event venues in our local rural areas may be on septic. Septic tanks are limited in volume. Large weddings or well attended events at a event location on a septic tank will most likely require the need to bring in additional portable restrooms. You must ensure the septic tank isn’t overwhelmed by the use. Nothing more memorable (in the WRONG sense of the word “memorable”) than a backed up, flooding septic tank at your wedding. Don’t let that be you!

Weekends Events and Porta Potties 

Typically in a Seattle summer season there will be weekends we sell out of Green Latrine toilets. That’s right…we get super busy on weekends in June, July and August.  Portable toilets and the porta potty industry generally are very seasonal in nature – especially in Seattle – we are extremely busy when it’s warm outside – little slower when it’s cold outside. So please plan ahead with your rental and rent your portable toilets now. 

When to Rent Porta Potties 

Lots of Western Washington outdoor events are scheduled May through September and even into October. Our Northwest weather makes for a peak outdoor season of about 5 months. Weekends between Cinco de Mayo in May and Halloween in October are the busiest weekends of the year. The rest of the year portable toilets in the Seattle area are much more available. BUT in the summer you have to plan ahead. If you call the week before your weekend event it could potentially take a miracle to get you porta potty’s. Please plan ahead! Please call our office at least a month in advance of your scheduled event and talk to our experienced team of portable toilet experts to plan the toilets for your next outdoor event.
